If yesterday it was just a rumor, today it became official: the new Honda NSX project received green light! According to Autocar, who spoke with Honda's R&D chief Mibe Toshihiro, the work is underway and the car could be on sale as early as next year. Honda has unveiled the 2012 Honda CR-Z and there are no changes at all besides the fact that it comes with a new black seat fabric (replacing the standard silver mesh sport seats) becomes an option on cars with the Crystal Black Pearl exterior color. Sources in Japan divulged that Mugen has started development of a package for the model. Starting on Oct. 18, Honda will offer the all-new 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas at 200 dealers in 38 states. This is the only natural gas production car to be made and sold in the U.S. This alternative energy vehicle is priced from $26,155. Powering the Civic Natural Gas is a modified version of the same 1.8-liter engine that’s used in the petrol Civics. The Civic Natural Gas is more efficient than the regular Civic at 27 city and 38 highway but it can’t compare with the 44 mpg achieved by the Honda Civic Hybrid. To expand a transmission factory in Russells Point, Ohio, Honda Motor Co. has invested $50 million. This is part of Honda’s plans to upgrade U.S. assembly operations as it aims for production to normalize after the disruptions caused by the March 11 earthquake. Honda will construct a 75,000-square-foot facility for a new die-casting operation. This investment came after the automaker announced earlier this year that it plans to spend $355 million to upgrade its plants in Ohio.  More...

Honda has officially opened the first open access hydrogen vehicle refueling station in the UK. Located in the automaker’s manufacturing facility in Swindon, this new station could be used by anyone who develops or uses hydrogen-powered vehicles. Industrial gases company BOC, a part of The Linde Group, has built and is operating this station.
